Our New Home – Week 9

Visibly, not a lot happened on our home this week. The first floor roof trusses were all put in place and I assume they will start on the second floor roof this week. The first layer of concrete facing was put on all external and internal walls. Looks like all major plumbing as been installed and the ditch was dug to connect the house to the community water line. The pool has been dug and concrete is being poured. Still on schedule to complete in 16 weeks.

Week 9 (6)

Ditch being dug for water connection. Two guys with a shovel doing as well as a witch digger back home. Amazing and cheaper! Will there be sufficient water pressure from the water tank height? Everyone thinks so but if not, we will add a compressor.

Week 9 (5)

To make the roof girders, two u-shaped metal pieces are welded together, painted with rust retardant solution, put in place, welded to face plate in wall, cut to correct length if necessary then all is cemented in place. A lot of steel!

Week 9 (4)

Plumbing is all in place including incoming water and outgoing grey water, rain water and sewage. Some people asked if we were collecting the rain water but we have no plans at this time to do so.

Week 9 (3)

Final roof girders in place on first floor bedroom. Amy is now having an easier time visualizing where the furniture will go.

Week 9 (2)

Amy explaining the details to friends visiting our new home.

Week 9 (1)

Concrete base being put in pool. Since the land drops from right to left we are having a hard time visualizing how it will look when finished since we asked for it to be somewhat elevated. We assume there will be more debris blowing into the pool being out on the open prairie. Might be a few more critters using the pool compared to inside a home.
