Hello Everyone,

We hope this finds you all well. It is a scary time with the Corona Virus crisis and we hope everyone is staying in as much as possible and staying safe.

The corona virus is also in Nicaragua. The reports we are getting are that the people of Nicaragua have quarantined themselves. The streets have cleared and people are staying at home. There have been reports of people with the virus. This is devastating for a country with limited medical care for the majority of the people.

Last week Addys told us the parents were asking what measures the ladies were taking to ensure that the children in the Feeding Program and Back Yard Bible Clubs would not get sick and there was a drop in the number of children coming to the programs. The parents are being very cautious.

On Sunday we had a conference video call with Addys, Jesse and Julissa to discuss the situation. They had made a plan and wanted to share it with us.  Since the parents are being very cautious, and our desire to protect the children, the decision was made to provide food supplies for at least one meal per day for each family in the programs for the next two weeks. The basics of beans, rice, oil, sugar, etc. This would include the families that Jesse ministers to each week at the dump.

On Monday they purchased large quantities of the food and began to prepare a bag for each family. On Tuesday the bags were given out to the moms of the children in the programs.

Today, Wednesday Jesse will give out the bags to the adults at the dump.

Our programs are cancelled for this week and next and the decision will be made the end of next week for the coming week.

We are blessed in the United States with the world’s best health care. In Nicaragua that is not true for the average person. Their national health care system is very limited to say the least.

The children are very vulnerable due to their poor nutrition. The meal we provide for them each day is possibly their only meal.

Please join us in praying for the people of Nicaragua. Pray for our staff as they minister to the needs of the families. The Pearl Foundation helps many each week with the purchase of medicine, doctor visits and tests. Our staff will be on call for the families in need.

May the Lord bless you and keep you well.
