Chers Amis, dear friends,

My English partner, Michael, being very busy with  the website changing month and problems with internet, is not holding my hand to write in a proper English this letter and even if I imagine the laugh of Alf reading it, eventually reading voice high with my French accent, I don’t mind and think it does not  matter as long you understand me!

Thank you, thank you and thank you again to all the friends which gave the possibility to UE Gourmet to exist till today, particularly thank you to Holly and Craig who had been present from day one,  faithful and encouraging when my spirit was low.

I could not imagine when we began this little adventure how little I knew about the majority of the countries belonging to European Union and the pleasure it is to learn so much about my roots and if you never read the object of Michael and my researches, it doesn’t matter, it was rewarding in doing this.

I know that, for a number of you,  the fact you cannot order on impulse and get the food  immediately when  ordered,  is an handicap, sorry. On the other hand you could considerer us as part of your food program of the week, you buy a dish you would like to taste and eat it whenever you want because being fresh you can keep it at least 2 days in the refrigerator  or deep frozen for later on.

We see us more like a web delicatessen than a delivery pizza or Chinese dish or a restaurant, we want to offer you fresh food which means a current limited stock of food on purpose. It happens, I freeze some dishes, but in that case, the dish is not entirely cooked, when I need it within 6 months, I defrost it and finish the cooking, letting only a short time for you to heat in a microwave when it is sold.

As in any country, we encounter some problems, for example,  there are some products that are impossible to find, so I manage another way,  an other important problem is the change of  voltage for electric oven or flow of  gas with the other type when we are cooking… I am always afraid that the dish I am preparing for you is too well done or not enough and no way to know if it is fine!  If ever it happens a dish is too well done, please tell me I shall change to a new one hoping this time it will be right!

This experience taught me also humility when facing the ingenuity of generations of women  who cooked royal dishes with scrap because from North till South,  their countries were poor, infertile soil, inhospitable climate, heat as cold can be prohibitive.

I am not a Chief, just a simple cook who loves her job and wishes to convey to you the knowledge she got through recipes of 28 countries… What an adventure, what discoveries! Unthinkable at the beginning!

If we are not very good to promote ourselves, or make special offer and so on, I feel better to  pamper you, individually, when you become our customer,  it is like having a little sharing with a friend.

Before to finish this letter, I would like to recall to you that if you have a health problem asking for a special diet – diabetes, heart deceases … – we are able to help you. An other problem we thought of, is big family or a friendly dinner … contact us, we can make a proposal which will suit you.
