La Esperanza Granada Dec 2020
La Esperanza Granada Dec 2020 |
Dear Friends of La Esperanza Granada, As we are entering the final month of the year it is time for a little reflection as well as a look ahead into the next year. 2020 has been a very an unusual year. We had most of our operations closed for a few months due to the Corona Virus and this combined with the fact that Granada has not seen many visitors in 2020 has made this a very difficult year for most families and children in this city. Nicaragua was also hit by two back-to-back hurricanes which has particularly caused a lot of damage on both coasts. Over the last few months, we have however, seen some positive indications that make us look forward with some degree of optimism to the next year. ✨Our University Students have taken on leadership roles in the learning Centers and have shown significant growth in their leadership qualities as well as their discipline in working with children while pursuing their studies. ✨Our four learning Centres have been going strong over the last months. We continue with a strict protocol on face masks, distancing and hygiene and we are glad to be able to report that Granada has seen very few active Covid-19 cases over the last quarter of 2020. ✨Thanks to your very generous support throughout the year, we have been able to keep the organization going and we remain optimistic about the future of La Esperanza. ✨Many students are graduating from High Schools and Universities and we want to congratulate them for having completed their study program in spite of the multiple challenges they have faced. ✨With your support we hope to be able to provide educational opportunities for new students in the coming year. ✨We are looking forward to 2021 and hope things will soon change. Granada is hoping for a return of visitors once the Virus vaccine is available and again allows for international travel. Nicaragua remains a beautiful country to visit and we hope to welcome many of you in the new year. ✨With tourists coming to the country during 2021 we also hope to be able to welcome international volunteers to join our efforts to provide quality educational support to the kids who come every day to the learning Centers. We hope to again welcome groups who have in the past contributed with construction and renovations of schools, homes and community infrastructure. As you can imagine after more than two years of the current situation, we all look forward to a positive change in the new year. I want to take this opportunity to wish you and your family and friends a blessed ❄️Merry Christmas Season and a very Happy New Year❄️ On behalf of our staff, the Board members and all the children and students that benefit from your support a great THANK YOU. Without you, we could not provide this much needed support. As a last detail I can also share with you that thanks to a special contribution from a supporter, we will be able to provide families of children who regularly come to the learning Centers with a Christmas Food basket that should brighten their days during the coming festive seasons. |
