Painted Pony Horse Tours – 1/2 Off Special
Slow Season Special
Half off the prices shown below, minimum two people until the end of October, 2016.
Offerings
At this time our two major horseback tours are the morning ride and the sunset ride.
At 8:00 AM on the day of your choice you will be matched with a horse to fit your riding experience working with our knowledgeable guides. The ride is approximately 2 ½ hours depending on the type of ride you are looking for. Some people just like to meander and look at the various countryside vistas or perhaps you wish to proceed at a full gallop at times.
The tour leaves the farm going down country roads back to the edge of Granada, passing the most beautiful cemetery in Nicaragua then heading west to the Laguna Apoyo. You will pass by local homes and farms showing how many of the locals live. At the laguna you will dismount and enjoy a view of the most pristine lake in Nicaragua. Most people have their photos taken there using the laguna as a backdrop. When ready, you will leave the laguna for a short ride back to the farm. $39
At 3:30 PM we offer a shorter tour of around 1 ½ hours. Again you are matched with a horse that fits your riding experience. Leaving the farm you will proceed down a country road directly to the Laguna Apoyo to see the sun setting over the Laguna Apoyo. Spend as much time there as you wish and be sure to bring your camera. When ready, you will leave the laguna for the short ride back to the farm. $25
$3 a person from Granada. Contact us for quotes for other areas. There is a map below if you wish to go to Painted Pony directly.
Assuming it does not interfere with scheduled tours, we would be happy to tailor a tour for you at a different time but it is cooler in the morning and late afternoons. Contact us for more information.

From Granada take the Carretera Masaya (main highway between Granada and Managua). Right after passing the Jockey Club on the right you go a couple hundred meters and you will see a left turn lane. Turn left which leads to the Japanese Hospital where you have to turn left. You will pass the court houses on the right, keep going until you pass over a large speed bump where you turn right.
You immediately pass a new small Nica housing development on the left then the road goes back to being a dirt road. At the first left, turn left and go a few hundred meters and just before the road turns left again you will see a cement pump house on the right with Painted Pony on it. Open the metal gate and drive to the top of the hill where you will see our stables. If the gate was closed, be sure to close the gate since we may have some critters grazing there.
