Our New Home – Week 6

Well, each week I think I may not have much to report on the progress of our new home but that is not the case so far as the photos will attest.

A lot of parallel processes going on. It is as if elves come at night and complete another project. The developer has completed running the 2 inch pipe from the tank to our lot and waiting to be connected to our home. The septic system has been dug and fabricated along with the trench to our home. 2nd floor has been poured, window treatments added, basic stairs completed, rebar being put in for 2nd floor walls and much more. We may actually be completed in the 16th week though lack of rain has helped a great deal. A lot of people are coming out to see the progress so hopefully we will have neighbors soon.

I will let the photos show where we are.

Week 6 (8)

Trench from house to the septic system on the lower part of the lot.

Week 6 (9)

Septic system dug and fabricated.

Week 6 (2)

Oh my goodness, not only has the concrete wall facing been added but most of the window ledges have been completed. These are the garage windows.

Week 6 (3)

Front patio columns are all in place. Made of bricks with concrete caps.

Week 6 (4)

What? The 2nd floor girder system magically appeared in place with metal corrugated panels above. Is that a staircase in the back?

Week 6 (5)

Partially poured 2nd floor. You are looking at the closet in the master bedroom.

Week 6 (7)

Finishing the rebar on the 2nd floor and putting in the openings for the various pipes, electrical lines, etc. The worker is in our 2nd floor bathroom.

Week 6 (6)

The bucket brigade bringing the concrete to the 2nd floor bucket by bucket.

Week 6 (11)

George and Gracie ensuring work is being completed as per the plans.

Week 6 (10)

Window ledge on the kitchen window. The kitchen sink will be located here so that Amy can view the city of Granada below while washing dishes. I would help but I am not allowed in the kitchen when Amy is home. She wants me to put a fountain in front of this window so the birds can play in the water. You can picture Amy frolicking around the fountain, singing a Disney tune while birds swoop around her.
