PREPOSITION-!
Prepositions are supposed to work with sentences. Hemingway used a lot of prepositional phases to enlighten his stories and his stories are indeed interesting. However, your prepositions are not only to add lives but also to tell you what happened. Educated Latinos use a lot of them. If your desire is to get close to natives, it’d behoove you to use them too.
Spanish ones are only about half as numerous: On the other hand, they are multifunctional. Latinos also love to use compound prepositions as opposed to our prepositional phrases. Spanish do not use prepositional phrases as we do.
One-word Prepositions
a=in on at by
ante=before
bajo=under
con=which
de=on from by about
desde=since
en=in on into at upon
entre=between(any number)
hacia=toward
hasta=until
para=see Preposition-2
por= ditto
según=according to
sin=without
sobre=on
Compound Preposition
a causa de=because of
a fin de=in order to
a pesar de=despite
alrededor de=around
cerca de=near
dentro de=within
después de=after(not now)
en lugar de=instead of
fuera de=outside of
conforme a=conforming to
contrario a=contrary to
en cuanto a=as to (You’ll a lot of it from Nicas)
junto a=together with
respect a (I personally try to stay away from it as respecto a sounds like respeto a)
tocante a=it means the same as above but it sounds less confusing
